MICHAEL NOURI CHARITY

“… Most days, we’re bombarded by news of war, conflict and disaster … People everywhere want peace. They desire it, they appreciate it …

Peace is so much more than the absence of war.

It’s a feeling each of us can experience inside …”

Michael Nouri has been a follower of Prem Rawat since the early 1970’s. As a peace advocate he has been appointed spokesman for PeaceCast -

an international cast of volunteers getting behind the message that peace is possible inside each of us, between us, among people, among nations, even in the midst of conflict.

Michael has also been working as an appointed Ambassador for the Africa Society of the National Summit to Advance Education about Africa in the U.S.

“I took part in a Teach Africa program at UCLA several years ago and it became clear how little Americans know about Africa. Can you imagine being ignorant about an entire continent with 55 countries and over a billion people? How we can we expect the next generation of leaders to understand their counterparts in foreign lands if they know nothing about their countries, cultures or commonalities? We have a President whose father is from Kenya. My father came from Iraq. In the melting pot that is the United States, learning about one another is vitally important. Today’s youth must receive exposure to and information about the varied cultures of the international community. Only then can we have a chance to coexist peacefully.”

Michael supports Earth Hour - a worldwide movement for the planet encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour.

Being engaged in promoting peace, tolerance and encouraging people to work on a better world, Michael has found his inner peace and satisfaction practicing meditation for more than 43 years.

"I do it every day. I started meditating about 43 years ago. So it has been for most of my life. It calms me.

It relieves stress.

It puts me in touch with the best part of me, which is my heart. It makes me part of the solution rather than part of the problem. When the satisfaction is coming from within, then I just go out and enjoy how plentiful this world is, and I don’t need to be coming from a place of neediness. That is what I mean about being part of the solution. The quality of my life has been immeasurably enhanced.“

Michael Nouri serves also as ambassador for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
